What is the best way to pack film and camcorder tapes so they don't get ruined?

Any advice will be appreciated.

In your luggage??????

Seriously, in over thirty years of travel I have never had one roll of film ruined by the x-ray machines and I have traveled worldwide. There apparently was a problem with high ASA film (1000 or better) years ago but I understand the newer machines have overcome that.

Having said that, if you really want to be comfortable you can purchase a lead lined bag rather cheaply that packs flat and will give you peace of mind.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. It's nice to know you have never had film ruined in all that time. Sometimes a person doesn't know what to believe with all the warnings out there.

Thanks again.

Just make sure that you keep your film in one of your carry-ons. The X-ray machines that do your stowed luggage are much stronger, and unless you are using a lead bag, I wouldn't put film there.

Hi, same here. I have traveled a lot with my camera gear and never had a problem. I always carry it with me ...never pack it. jules wrote:
