Exclusive past guest offers
• Complimentary subscription to Currents magazine
• Vacation Interchange Privileges on Carnival sister brands
• Special Gold Sail & Sign card

• Past Guest reunion cruises loaded with extras

Once I logged in a bunch of cruises came up. Including an eight day Mexican Riviera cruise for $549. My problem is I have a cruise points and I can't use them with this program. From Carnival's past guest section:
"Here at Carnival, nothing makes us happier than to see our past guests back on a "Fun Ship" cruise. That's why we're offering select sailings from only $199* plus a FREE stateroom upgrade when they book their next cruise by March 31, 2008."

I didn't see any sailing for $199 the lowest is a 3 day to the bahamas for $229 that is quite low. It's not worth it to me cause I would have to fly. However, a 4 days Mexican Baja cruise is $279 so that is more doable.

I can use my cruise points with any cruise line on any sailing. However, I have to book throught the credit cards TA. Which is worth it for $500 or $800 off a cruise. Right now I'm at the 500 level My points won't start expiring for a worth so I'm trying to get to the 800 level before redeeeming.

So how many more cruises would bring you upto the 800 level?

For example as a past guest I can book through carnival an 8B with free upgrade to 8D on the 8 day Mexican Riviera cruise for $729. On travelocity I would pay $899 on the same cruise for the same cabin. I think with my card I would have to pay the high per person to recieve the discount.

It's credit card purchases I get 1 point per dollar on every 2% for net purchases. So a $2000 purchase would be 40 points. I keep an excel spreadsheet to track the points and when they expire.

So this is a Carnival Credit Card with points on purchases?

Royal has one too.

Nope this card is from before Carnival came up with the sea miles card. It has a better rewards program. Plus I can use it for any cruise line. So mine 500 points can be used for a Royal cruise. It's called a Travel Rewards cards it was MBNA but they sold it to Bank of America. This card is no longer offered I'm grandfathered in.

Most of the new cruise rewards card are 1% of net purchases. So the same $2000 would only get you 20 points. Mine expire in 3 years the others expire in 5 years.
