I've been looking (since 29th Jan) at the QM2 items being offered for sale on ebay.
We were on the 12th Jan maiden and watched in dismay as people queued at the shops to buy (eg) 20 key rings. Base ball hats, sweat shirts, t shirts etc etc etc were being sold massively. Some people believe that anything with 'Maiden' and 'QM2' on it will be a unique item. Oh, so wrong. EVERY trip that QM2 is making to a new port is a Maiden this year, and as such those 'Maiden' items are selling by the thousands.
Looking on ebay, many items are failing to attract interest.
There are however a few items which are genuinly marked '12th Jan' etc. These may attract a little more value as being of limited quantity. Nevertheless, these items being traded on ebay are generally not fetching an enormous amount.
I'm surprised that people are selling items that have at present little value. Maybe in 20 years time these items may attract more interest, or, God forbid, some disaster befell the ship.
When you say 'Authenticity'....... I think the items are authentic. They'd be worth nothing if they weren't!!!!!!
In the meantime I'll keep a watch on the trading and marvel at people's attempt to make a fast buck out of Cunard - who are the only people laughing all the way to the bank.
