Can someone please explain why there are two maiden transatlantic crossings on QM2? I thought the maiden transatlantic crossing was 17 Jan to 21 Jan 2004. Unless of course everytime the ship takes a different route it is considered a new maiden voyage. Considering the size of the Atlantic, Carnival could sell "TransAtlantic Maiden Voyages" for the next 20 years on QM2!
We were on the Maiden Voyage (12-26JAN) which did cross the Atlantic, (quite splendidly I might add!) There are two reasons that the recent crossing was also a 'maiden'
1. To many, the maiden transatlantic voyage doesn't occur unless it's a nonstop from Europe to N. America...some purists would even go and say it must end in NY.
2. Marketing! As you say, Cunard could have 'maidens' for 20 years.
I still say we were on the maiden voyage and maiden transatlantic all rolled into one! :-)
Hi Craig, were you the Craig that Carole and I and my sister Louise used to meet in the G 32. occasionally. Carole has the very long blond hair, you would remember us. Louise was there quite often till 2am...?
