I have read many of the postings on this site. How long does it take to disembark??? Also when arriving is it better to show up earlier at the Red Hook terminal?? I have booked my passage for April and will be having Cunard pick me up at the hotel in NYC.
When in Southampton, what is the time it take then to disembark?

Disembarkation from QM2 is basically by deck from the top down, with some exceptions such as transfers to airports. You are asked to vacate your cabin by 9am and it can take up to 11am before you are called. Twice, I have been on a deck called about 10.30 and once on an airport transfer which was called at about 10am. All three of these were at Southampton. On the two occasions where I was picking up my care, it took twelve minutes (sad, I timed it!) from being called to disembark to starting the car engine and driving away.
I have embarked at Red Hook only once and that was on the first ever sailing from there last year. My check-in time was 2.30pm but because this was the first sailing and there was a big function at the terminal, I expected chaos so took a cab from my hotel and arrived at the terminal at about 11.30. There were a lot of jobsworths trying to keep passengers away from the dignatories, but we went through security, checked in and were on board by noon.
Similarly, on the twice I have boarded QM2 at Southampton, I have generally arrived just after 11am for a scheduled check-in of 2.30 and have again been on by midday. I tried that 18 months ago for QE2, though. Checked in at 11.30 for a 2.30 check-in, and guess what? We were boarded at 2.30! I didn't mind in any case. I'd much rather arrive early and wait than rush to get there.
