I have noticed in a couple of articles (about the QM2's chief officer and in your review of Cunard) that you say QE2 went out of service in May 2008. That is wrong. The ship is still in service and will be until its final voyage to Dubai in November. Indeed, I am sailing on the ship to Iceland and Norway at the end of July.
Hi there, we were 'fortunate?' enough to have taken the Iceland & Norway voyage last year after our cruise on Sea Princess was cancelled due to her engine problems.
Why did I invert-quote the word fortunate? Well it was as we were about to set sail from Alesund when the Captain broke the news that the ship had been sold to Dubai. As you can imagine it was a quiet evening on board. The sailaway was one of our most memorable though as the liner played 'God Save the Queen' as we followed the Water Tug boat out of the harbour.
If your voyage is only half as good as our one was, you are in for a fantastic time, both on board and in the ports of call. We are really envious of you also being on the farewell Voyage in November.
Please post some photo's on your return, I hear she is looking really good after her recent refit.
Best wishes,
Alan & Katrina

Thanks for your post. We are really looking forward to our cruise despite having cruised Norway last year, 2004 and 2002.
We made our booking a few days after we heard the announcement of the ship's sale, and even then, it was difficult to get a suitable cabin. We tried for 3131 (C1) which we had on a Mediterranean cruise in 2005, but that was booked. We then tried cabin after cabin - C2, C3 - but they were booked already or at the ends of the ship.
We then went in the other direction and ended up booking a P2 - first time in Grill class. It was a little more expensive than we would normally pay, but imagine our surprise when the next brochure came out to find the the Sailaway fares had more than doubled!
The next surprise came only a few weeks ago when we had a letter from our travel agent confirming our booking - again, because it was confirmed when the tickets were paid for. Odd, I thought, until I noticed the cabin number - we had been upgraded to Q2 - one of the veranda suites on Sun Deck. We are over the moon!
I will certainly be taking a few hundred photographs and will get some posted. as soon as I can.
I haven't yet posted any photographs of my last cruse on this site, but I have on (if I am allowed to say it!!) www.cruise-addicts.com if you are interested.
Hope you had a fantastic time on board - how did the weather behave?
We came back a couple of weeks ago from our Sea Princess cruise/adventure to Norway, Shetlands, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland (missed St. Johns) & 3-day stopover in New York with amazing sun tans !!!
We are currently sorting through some 1900 photos & 6 hours of video - which could take longer than the holiday.
Nothing had happened with regards to sorting these as I was actually working away in Leicester last week, so the task has now started.
Will take a look at your pics this evenig when I've had enough of sorting & renaming ours ;o)
Best wishes,
Alan & Katrina

We had two days rough seas getting to Iceland and it was pretty grey most of the rest of the time. There were a few bright spells - the fantastic sail out of Stavanger was one of them - and only caught rain once, in Oslo. We spent about an hour sitting on our veranda waiting for it to clear and then went back into the town for a couple of hours.
I don't envy you sorting all your photographs, pouring over maps, guide books, brochures, etc trying to figure out what you've photographed. I've even used Google map and satellite images to find out the name of that square in that town somewhere in Spain!
