Default car rental after cruise - ? timing

We will be returning to Ft. Lauderdale after a Princess cruise and will be renting a car to travel more by car. I'm trying to figure out what time to request the car reservation from the airport...will we be the last off the ship since we don't have a flight to catch?

Thanks.

You should be able to get to the car rental by 10:00AM or so, especially if its close to the pier since the airport is right there as well.

Jusy say time. They usually hold the car for one day(24 hrs). This I was told by the Budget agent in Cocoa Beach.

Our scenario we encountered when renting after our cruise out of Miami - Self asssit yourself to get off the ship and head over to the rental car agency as quickly as possible. The line to rent after the cruise was something else. Granted we got a better car that what we requested the LONG wait was unreal. Start your rental about 9am if you self debark otherwise you will have to wait until your zone is called to debark and those lines can get long so I'd wait until 10-10:30 for the rental.
