We are going to be in Rome for a week and would greatly appreciate any suggestions on a guide to use. Also any ideas on restaurants, shopping and off-the-beat sites to see would be greatly appreciated.
We are also going to Rome and looked up Scale Reale tours. They seem to be reputable and another person posted a very favorable recommendation. The only thing is that they are expensive when you need to be picked-up at Port. Otherwise, their walking tours are reasonable. Vatican/Chapel for $50.00 per person. We are booking with them for the Rome tour if we can find 2 other people to share expenses. The May 15 tour they price for us is at $725 for 3 people and we are only 2. Another option for you is lookingat eternaltourist.com or
romalimo.com. Good Luck.
We are in our late forties and have used the Eyewitness Travel Guides by DK Publishing for most of our travels. They contain great information plus lots of maps and suggested self tours. Rome is a great adventure, just explore and you will find something that will please you. We celebrated an anniversary at Alfredo's di Roma. It is supposed to be the restaurant that originated Fettuccini Alfredo. The food was great. They serenaded us during dinner, very romantic. It was like being in the movies. We are booked on the May 11th Millennium cruise out of Barcelona and are very much looking forward to our day in Rome. Good Luck and have a great time. Albert
