Default 7yo to Alaska

I am a single dad traveling with my 7yo son and have been thinking of cruising on Princess Diamond or Sapphire to Alaska this summer. Do you think he is too young to really get anything out of Alaska? Should I wait a couple of more years and stick with the Caribbean for now? I am definitly putting off Europe until he gets older. Any thought? ANyone done this?

I was just in Alaska and I loved it! We were on the oosterdam and there was so many little kids. I was surprised of how many kids were on the ship that week, I stopped and talked to some of the little ones and asked them how they liked the cruise and did have fun doing stuff on shore. They all loved it! They all were saying how they have never seen this many things in there life. So if I were you I would take my son. What a great experience for him to see all this nature.
Good luck and have fun

we are going on 8/4 with our son (7) and daughter (10)-they have both done 2 disney cruises, and are realy excited about going to alaska. my son had told his classmates about his trip before school ended and the boys esp. were very excited about the idea of seeing glaciers, eagles, bears and esp. "snow in the summer". i think 7 is a fine age for an alaskan cruise-they have a real appriciation for wildlife and getting to see such an offering would be a great opportunity.

I don't think your 7 yo is too young for Alaska -- I took mine when she was five and she got a lot out of it. There are so many active things kids can do in ports in Alaska. I'd definitely wait a few years for Europe though -- I took mine last year when she turned 10 and it was a fabulous experience.
Smooth sailing,
