Default camp carnival in "off season"

We are cruising Nov on an 8 day Carnival Cruise. Has anyone had any experience with camp carnival during this time frame/cruise length? I would love to hear about how many children were involved in the activities. We are a small group with kids 4,6,8,12,16,18. Anything you can share would be helpful. Thank you.

We have sailed Carnival in January and September, both "off season" in terms of kids.

On our first cruise In January, my son turned 13 and there were only a handful of kids on board his age. He managed to hang out a little with a couple of them, but mostly hung out with me.

On our 2nd cruise in September, he was a year older (almost) and found a few more kids (although only about 30 in his 12-14 age group). It's not there weren't kids on board, they just didn't show up for the scheduled teen events.

If your cruise is over Thanksgiving, you'll have more luck finding more kids of all ages on board. However, Carnival always has some kids on board and the youth program activities run no matter what. The teen program goes up until age 15 years -- after that, there are ac tivities for the older teens but they are fewer than for the younger teens and kids.
Smooth sailing,

Actually, on the 2 Carnival cruises we were one, they break down their teen programs - 12-14 is one group and 15-17 is another.

Thank you all for your help with this. The small groups will be fine, I just hope there are enough children participating to play the games and hold the activities

We are going in Jan., our daughter will be 12. She is the only one in our large group that is a child. I'm hoping that she will find friends. This will be over a holiday. but a four day cruise. What are her chances of kids to hang with? Will Camp Carnival be open?

Pam, Camp Carnival is year round. If there aren't too many kids on board, they'll lump some of the groups together. Just make sure she goes to the first nights meeting and, hopefully, she'll find a friend that night. You can also help her make friends that first day around the pool, etc. This is not the time to be shy or picky; somebody has to be the first one to say "hi". That's usually all it takes to make a "cruise" friend. (been there, done that with my boys.....)

We took our two daughters last November on the Victory the week after the US Thanksgiving holiday. Our youngest was in the 2-5 group of Camp Carvnival with about 22 others. Our eldest (14) was unhappy with the teen activities for her group and after I observed them for a little while I understood her unhappiness. On this particular cruise the teen activities for her age group were poorly organized and uncontrolled. There were about 18 kids in her age group, she ended up making friends with 3 or 4 and they hung out together. We did not mind her skipping the group but made sure that she checked in with us on schedule, stayed with at least one other and did not disturb other cruisers. We all had an awesome time and the cruise line did a great job with family games, etc.
