Mayan ruins tour

Will be going to Cozumel on the Carnival Jubilee on 8/16.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this tour ? What
is the cost and is does it take a long time to get there ?

Tulum is beautiful. It is the only Mayan ruin that overlooks the water.

Go back a few days in the trivia game and you can see a photo.

From Coz, you take the ferry across to Playa del Carmen -- about 45 minutes -- then Tulum is about 40K south. So, count on another hour to get on the bus, get there, etc.

Port days in Coz tend to be long so you will still have time to do something else.

Often a Tulum tour is coupled with a snorkel outing at Xel-Ha.

Don't know how much it costs.

If I had my choice, I'd club up with some other people, take the ferry, rent a car in Playa and go on my own.

I just got back from the Jubilee's Western Caribbean Cruise - It was amazing - I would highly recommend the Snuba excursion. I had a couple of friends who loved the Mayan Ruins but the Snuba was absolutely fabulous. It also left alot of left over time for shopping and enjoying the downtown. Have fun!

I sailed on the Carnival Paradise on July 1st, and toook the excursion to Tulum - it cost $ 68, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We had an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable about the site. He definitely sparked an interest in mayan history for me, and the first thing I did when i got home was to buy a book on the Yucatan Penninsula, and Mayan history.

However, it can get VERY hot as there is no shade. The tour gets back to Cozumel around 12-1PM which leaves a lot of time for exploring the island. If you are makinfg an extended stay at Cozumel (midnight) - be sure to go to Carlos and Charlies - definitely an enjoyable experience.

WOW! $68 per person ???

$68 would rent a car for four and the books could be bought in advance.
