Default Sapphire Princess 10/2/04, GWM Couple...Any other family cru

GWM couple from San Francisco looking forward to the 10/2/04 sailing of Sapphire Princess to the Mexican Riviera. We would love to meet other people who enjoy good conversation for a drink at the Wheelhouse Bar, or maybe a cigar at Churchill's. We are late 30s (John) and early 40s (Hank), humorous, friendly, and enjoy meeting new people. If you like cigars and/or pipes or are a movie buff, even better! Drop us a line if you're so inclined. It would be great to hear from you.

John,

We are booked on the Diamond Oct. 30th (I fell in love with it after our 2-night pre-inagural sailing).

You will love the choice on restaurants -- just fantastic. And the Conservatory pool is wonderful.

I hope you will find some other oflks here on your sailing ... try Meet on Board, too, here.

Harry

Hi Harry,

Thanks for your message. Have a great time on the Diamond!! We cruised on the Star when she was new in 2002, and found her to be fantastic!! We kept saying "the only thing missing is a cigar bar". So we were tickled to see that the Sapphire has its own cigar bar (Churchills). I guess Princess read our comment card!!

We are also really looking forward to the Lotus Spa

We'll have to compare notes after our respective cruises!

Take care,
John and Hank

The Churchill's bar is pretty cool. On the Diamond, it has a pool table on the ceiling! (Also, it's right near the theater (if I recall) so convenient for a quick smoke.)

We were on the Star in 2002, too, and loved it -- till we sailed the Diamond.

:-)

We are really excited about the Sapphire, and very happy to hear about Chuchill's. A cigar bar was the one thing glaringly absent from the Star. We've noticed a funny thing, in all the promotional materials for the Diamond and Sapphire, the Diamond lists "cigar bar" while the Sapphire doesn't explicitly state it. However, other printed materials we've seen confirm that cigars are welcome at Churchill's. Must be a marketing thing.

We will look forward to comparing notes with you after you get back.

Take care,
John and Hank

It looked pretty popular on the Diamond (without having to fight for a seat or stool). Had some neat memorabilia, photos, etc.

Hey Hank, just noticed that you will be Platinum after the Sapphire sailing. Perks get much better then.

Funny, too, we sailed a lot of the same ships -- Ecstasy, Viking Serenade, Star Princess and close (but no cigar -- ar-ar) the Diamond Princess.

Hi Harry,

Wow...we have been on a lot of the same ships! At some point, we are bound to bump into each other (hopefully).

We are definitely looking forward to the Platinum status, though to our knowledge there isn't actually a platinum waiting area in SF. Perhaps they will designate one part of the large, empty building at the pier as the fancy waiting area

When you cruised the Diamond for the 2-day, how early were you allowed to board? We love to be among the first on the ship. That gives us time to learn our way around and get lost before our fellow passengers embark.

Take care,
John and Hank

We ran a little late on the Diamond, but it left at the standard 5 p.m. and we were on about 1:30

I think the first folks got on at 12:30, but we just walked right on (Princess has great embarkation procedures!)

This cruise appears to be selling briskly! Has anyone else made a booking?

See you on the ship, Bill!

We just got our cabin assignment and travel docs. Booked a mini-suite guarantee (AE) and were thrilled to be upgraded to a Cat AA (highest category of mini-suite). We are midships on Dolphin Deck.

Is there anyone else from the Boards on this cruise? If so, drop us a line.

Take care,
John and Hank

Congrats on the upgrade ... I booked a mini guarantee on teh Diamond for 10/30 and got the same upgrade, too.

Would you help and report back on the balcony size when you get back? It's been an ongoing discussion on the Princess board.

Harry
