Are these a thing of the past, or do they still do these on HAL? Also, what's the attraction of the Odessy restaurant? Is it a flat charge of $20 per person for what ever is on the menu? Is the food that much better than the main dining room?
The odyssey is now called the pinnacle, and is now serving either steakhouse or pacific northwest items while in Alaska. It is 20.00 plus tips, which I'm confused about since HAL's tipping policy, but they are marketing it as a seperate restaurant and all that entails: reservations, tipping etc. Many people have said its spectacular, I will be on the Prisendam on June 14 and will get back to you. Midnight buffets on a nightly basis have pretty much disappeared. They may do one spectacular one only 1 night. Many other lines will do a themed midnight buffet every other night....such as Desserts or chocolate or Mexican.....It's another way to save money, on man power and food. If you think about it, 2nd seating finished eating 2 hours before the buffet.
Odyssey on Zuiderdam (Pinnacle menu) is excellent. The steaks we had there were as fine as we have enjoyed in any of the well know, high end steakhouses in which we have dined....Ruth's Chris, Morton's of Chicago, The Palm etc We were aboard Zuiderdam two weeks and dined in Odyssey three times. Every meal was wonderful.
If you enjoy chocolate desserts....don't miss Volcano. It is a chocolate lover's dream!
