Are the balconies on the Upper Verandah and higher decks on the port and starboard sides private? Can people look into your balcony from above? Which balcony cabins should be avoided? Thanks for any info.
WE JUST GOT BACK FROM THE ZUIDERDAM ON 19 JUNE 2004. WE HAD CABIN 5057 ON THE VERANDAH DECK. THE BALCONY WAS PARTITIONED OFF AND WAS PRIVATE. IF YOU HAVE ANY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SHIP YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT MY E-MAIL ADDRESS AND I WILL PASS ALONG ANY INFORMATION THAT I CAN. HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR CRUISE.
Having done two cruises on the Zuiderdam it is among my favorite. As for balconies, yes you can lean over and see onto another balcony but you can't see too much,(not a privacy issue) the ones to definately AVOID are the ones beside the outside elevators. The elevators look directly onto the balconie and you can see everything! You can also see most everything on the balconies at the back of the ship.
You only get complimentary laundry & dry cleaning in a "S" category, you also get loads of other things, like exclusive use of the Neptune Lounge, priority embarkation and disembarking at ports. also the "S" suites are larger with a great balcony
Whatever you choose Enjoy!

We were on the Zuiderdam in May (had a great time). We were in 6029 and loved it. No one above could see onto our balcony (again, in less they leaned WAY over their balcony). And, if that were the case (major leaning) they could have probably seen about the last foot of our balcony - no further. I remember taking a good look at the rooms next to the elevators and the first room is a definate NO-NO to get (unless you like people looking at you all the time. I think you should be OK 4 rooms in. I just remember that the first room had ZERO privacy.
We had cabin 6065 and LOVED the cabin. The balcony was private and big. We loved the DVD player and the bathroom. In fact, everything about the room was perfect including the service, they couldnt do enough for us. We wouldnt cruise on Holland again because of the food ( both lack of choices and the quality of what was available.) It was IMPOSSIBLE to make reservations in the only optional dining resturant. WIth so many other cruiselines offering many many more options for dining, we would go with Princess next time. Paul
