I won't be on that, but I just got back from the Zuiderdam on 6/18 - there were several kids, including teens, that were on board. I spoke to some teens who were about your kids age group and asked them about the teen program. They said it was awesome. So even if you don't get many responses on this board, you can be pretty sure that there will be others, and they should find the teen club to be pretty good.
Thanks for the response.. I have found 2 other 13 yr old boys going through a roll call.
The kids are excited anyway! I just found the list of things that were updated on this ship. The Teen area is supposed to be done by Summer 2005 - did you see any progress on that work when you were on the ship? And the list said that each room had a DVD player - do they have a library to borrow movies?
I am also finding sketchy info about the kids area on Half Moon Cay - I can't find any pictures online that others may have taken of it to see if the kids would be interested in that. I found a Frommer's review from last year and it said that the waterpark area was free - any ideas if that is still the case?
Thanks again for your response. I think we will be delighted with the Zuiderdam!
I am not sure about the DVD's...it may depend on your cabin. I was in a VB category and we didn't have DVD's, although I spoke with an assistant cruise director who told me that when it goes into drydock in December, every cabin will be getting DVD's. AFAIK, the library only had books two weeks ago.
It did appear that they were doing some work in the kids area when I was on the ship, but I didn't go in to see to what extent. I took my daughter on the Zuiderdam last year (she was 11 at the time) and she loved it...met many new friends that she keeps in touch with today. And as I said, the teens I talked to really seemed to like the program.
Not sure about HMC - we just lazed on the beach. I did see a fountain as we came in, so that must have been the waterpark...and it wasn't offered as a shore excursion, so I am assuming that it was free over there. But the water and beach are REALLY beautiful...they might just enjoy playing there.
I think you're going to like the Zuiderdam - it's a great ship and a great time.
WE will be traveling on the august 13th cruise with our 16 and 7 year old boys.. We'd love to know about other people traveling with similar conditions. I f you have a teen, we'd like to get them together.
