I am sailing on the Volendam March 23...I just called Ships Services tp order a bottle of Grand Marnier......I was quoted $80 !! This strikes me as daylight robbery. I did not order....I wonder what the chance of bring a bottle aboard is.
That sounds like "highway" robbery to me, but it could be the price.
We just got off the Volendam but sorry to say I didn't look at the prices of the liquour. We were in a Suite and the cabinet above the fridge was quite full with various miniature bottles of liquour but I didn't look at the price list.
You can always try to "smuggle" on a bottle, but if it's taken away from you don't be surprised. Good Luck.
The ship is lovely with all the new SOE amenities - flat screen TV and DVD in the Suites. Beds are wonderful. We had duvets on the beds which I found too warm so I had the steward remove mine and had a blanket put on in it's place.
Explorations Cafe is very nice - bright and cheery.
Put the bottle in your checked luggage in either plastic watter bottle or wrap in plastic bubbles. You are taking a chance on bringing in your carry on bags and in most instances will be confiscated until the last nite of the cruise. You can bring in wine as much as you want and if consumed at dinner there will be a corkage fee.Was on a Celebrity cruise where I saw a full case of champagne being toted in on a cart. You are right that the price on delivered to your room is highway robbery.Just completed cruise on Veendam where there is a happy hour price on a special drink of the day along with special martini each day and amounts to a dollar off the regular price.
