We stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street from Miami. We could look right over and watch the ships come in in the morning of our cruise. Really gets you keyed up for your cruise. I've read in some reviews, not sure where, that you can bid on priceline and get these hotels for about 1/2 the going rate. Never did it myself, but am going to try for next time. Hope this helps. The holiday inn was $95. per nite in March when we stayed there, booking directly thru the hoiday inn web site.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami and really enjoyed it. Right across from Bayside Market Place. Great restaurant within the hotel and many nice waterfront choices at Bayside Market Place. We paid about $95 for the room and had a nice view of the bay. Watched the ships arriving early in the morning. Also at Bayside there is a tour of the city on a trolley. You pay one price and can leave the trolley to explore a point of interest then rejoin the trolley when it comes back again. It was a nice way to see Miami.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
We have chosen to stay at The Mutiny Hotel. Besides Mutiny before a cruise had some humor. They are in Coconut Grove. They have a cruise package with an overnight suite, transportaion, a meal and shopping vouchers. Check out www.mutinyhotel.com if you are interested.
