Ft Lauderdale HOTEL CLOSURE

I attempted to make a reservation for 1.5.07 at the BEST WESTERN MARINA HOTEL just across the 17th St Causeway and was informed that the hotel CLOSED in MARCH, 2006. rather abruptly, the victim of condominium development. There were concerns expressed that people holding reservations might not be notified of the closure and could show up late at night (like I did last December) and find the doors locked. If you hold a reservation for this hotel, you need to call their number and and make alternate lodging arrangements. Some type of travel agency is monitoring the phones. I will miss this older hotel as it had everything for the cruiser. Restaurant, breakfast, lounge, pool w/bar and shuttle from/to airport and cruise docks.....for less than $100.00.

Thats too bad, it was a hotel I was considering for a possible upcomming cruise in a couple of years.
