Default Question about La Quinta on Le Jeune Rd, Miami

Has anyone stayed there?
Can anyone tell me about the area (safe-unsafe)?
Is it clean?
We are thinking of staying there the night before our cruise, they offer free airport shuttle, continental breakfast, and free shuttle to the port of Miami for $109 a night.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Barry

This hotel is located in what I would describe as an industrial area around the airport - in "rental car land." I was in this area over the weekend while going to buy some carpet. I did notice "adult" places in this vacinity, just around the corner from this hotel. If I were staying here (and I'm not sure I would!), I would not want to venture out on foot, especially after dark. I cannot comment on whether it is clean; hopefully, someone who has actually stayed here can comment on the cleanliness.

Thanks Ang, I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't in a high crime area.
I assumed that it is a no frills hotel, we just need a place to stay the night before our cruise, and they offer a free shuttle to the cruise port.
If we do venture out, it will only be to grab a bite to eat at Bennigans, which is adjacent to the hotel property.

Thanks again,
Barry

Miami is a little different than most cities when accessing high crime areas. It does not have a certain section or side of town that is known for being worse than any other like most large cities do. Instead, it has "pockets" that freckle the entire urban area. For example, you'll find Coral Gables to be very upscale and safe feeling, but just across the boundary street, it's a completely different picture. The same is true for the popular Coconut Grove area. One turn south at the edge of the district, and you'll find yourself in a very seedy area that you will NOT like. I suppose the good news is that I have not seen any high crime stories on the news that involve this hotel.

^ and hopefully you won't.

Now, I need to figure out where we will stay for the 2 days after the cruise before we fly home......perhaps Fort Lauderdale.

I work for a dockside bed & breakfast on a charter yacht in Miami, so I don't do much hotel travel anymore. However, during the boat shopping days, we would travel to Fort Lauderdale often. We found some really nice, quaint "ma & pop" beachfront hotel/motels in Fort Lauderdale to be little hidden jewels along the beach. And they were very inexpensive as compared to places like Doubletree, Marriott, Hyatt, and other brand-name chains. If you're looking for a bargain, there are many to be had. I found them through "Yahoo Local" search engine. Many, but not all, websites listed there. Many of them had kitchenettes which we used to save money on eating out.
