Hello Lou,

Not sure what time of the year you want to go to Mexico, or even conisdering 2002. The airport is 10 minutes away from the pier. Matter of fact you can see the pier from the airport. This link should help you http://www.portofsandiego.org/sandiego/index.asp
There are many hotels in the area and a lot to sightsee.
Just keep looking at the url and you can find the cruise schedules. I know you like HAL and they do a Mex Riv cruise. As for the Mariner not sure.
Write me by e-mail and I'll try my best to assist; steve@cruisemates.com

Lou, I am a native San Diegan. The cruise terminal is centrally located ... it's so easy to get on the trolley there and head out to Old Town or any number of spots ($5 for an all day pass). We did this when we had a stop here on one of those 4-night RCCL trips.

There are hotels right across the street from the terminal (Holiday Inn etc). Just look for ones located on the same street address for the cruise terminal (use Mapquest to check 'em out).

You might be able to get a hotel shuttle from the airport, or ask about a town car pickup (we got one for $25 in Seattle)

Hope that helps,
Harry
