It will be hot or hotter. Take a light slicker in case of rain.

The weather should be ideal for another month and maybe a little longer. It should start getting a bit hot by mid May and stay hot for the summer. It really depends on what type weather you're accustomed and enjoy. I think the weather's great through the summer for a beach resort area, if you're on the beach where you get the ocean breeze. If you're in town shopping where you don't get the ocean breeze, then the summer can feel hot.

The 1st day at sea leaving and the last day at sea returning to Los Angeles will be cool. From Cabo south it will be warm to hot (75 degrees to low 80's). I live in L.A. along coast and it is about 65 degrees today but much warmer inland.

Steve, very good points! People are always surprised on the 1st sea day that it's not super warm.

Hcat, seldom, but about 2 years ago one hit PV.

We seem to always go at the end of October, and PV is in the high 80s, 80 or so in Mazatlan and Cabo avbout 77. Humid in PV, but it gets better as you go back up.

Hcat,
Actually, the hurricane season is the same, June to November, as East Coast. There are less hurricanes that hit the Mainland West Coast vs. East Coast.
The problem, though, is that there are at least 3-4 per year that skirt the coastline as to cause the ships to be not able to make their port stops.
The CCL Elation missed ALL the ports two times in one year a couple of years ago. It has also missed ports several times in its West Coast cruising history due to hurricane related weather. One time the Elation went north to San Francisco and down to only Ensenada. There is no other place (islands and such) that the ship can go in a 7 day turnaround from L.A. like they can in the Caribbean.

With the above said I have cruised these ports a couple of times in late October and November without any problems. I booked the Diamond Princess for 11/27/04.

Andrea,

We just booked the Diamond for the Oct 30th cruise. Can't wait to see her again after our 2-nighter in March.

It's a fantastic ship! I posted a huge gallery in the Photo Galleries (under the "Interactive Features" red button. Just use the search tool in the gallery for my name).

I would definitely do Personal Choice dining because the Diamond is the first Princess ship to offer 4 different restaurants for PC diners -- an Italian, an Asian, a steakhouse and Southwestern.

The conservatory pool is absolutely gorgeous.

Feel free to start a new thread for past or future Diamond cruisers here, and I am sure you will get even more information.
