Default snorkel trips at Cabo

Greetings fellow cruisers

Information on this board has convinced me that the best snorkeling in Cabo is not at Lover's Beach, but at Chileno Bay (sp?) and Santa Maria Beach. If this is the case, does anyone have information on the following:

1. Is there any public transportation to these two beaches- i.e. - buses or shared vans?
2. If not - how much are taxis to these two beaches.
3. Are there any private snorkel tours that go to one or both of these beaches? How much do they cost and what impressions of the tours did you have.

Thank you in advance for any information you may have!

yes but it depends how much time you have to spend there. ccl stays there a longer day and offers these trips, I don't think Princess does.

Spoke with my boss he said the best snorkeling is definately Chileno Bay. However they do not have any vacilities, (restrooms, food etc). He said when he goes he hires the fishing company's boat (the one he uses for his deep sea fishing). He said you can take a taxi he's guessing approximately $20-40. or you can take a watertaxi that you hire and have stay with you while you snorkel. Negotiate a price before hand. Hope this helps and you have a great time.

When we stay in Cabo we take the Sun Rider snorkel boat. It leaves from the marina area which is a short walk from where the tenders drop you off. They have a 3 or 4 hour trip which costs about $35.00 U.S. per person and includes the boat ride over to Bahia Santa Maria or Chilleno Bay, open bar with margaritas, rum punch, pina coladas, beer and soft drinks. There is about an hour scheduled for the snorkeling and gear is included. After snorkeling they barbecue up a nice carne asada lunch with all the fixings. On the way back to the marina there is music, sometimes a guitar player. We've taken this trip four or five times and have always enjoyed it.

We're on the Diamond Princess to the Mexican Riviera on November 20th - can hardly wait!

How do we book this trip with the Sun Rider? Also I understand we have to take tenders into Cabo so how can you pick the correct time to meet? Thanks for any info. you might have.

Dris, I would say we have waited no more than 20 minutes for the tender, so if you plan early, you would be perfectly fine.

You can get the Sun Rider tickets right on the boat at the dock. We have also made the reservations through our hotel when staying in town. If you reserve through the ship, the cost will no doubt be higher. We have seen plenty of kids on this excursion and it's plenty fun for all ages!
