Norway: Balcony vs Outside Cabin

My wife and I sail on Norway for a Western Caribbean cruise in late August. We are currently booked in stateroom 124 on Viking deck. I have been thinking about upgrading to a room with a balcony. I have read reviews stating the newer suites are not as nice as the older parts of the ship: the balconies are not very private, rooms not very soundproof (TV noise), etc. Is it worth the extra cost for the balcony? We enjoy our quiet times reading, etc. and are looking for a quiet space when the ship is at sea, hence the balcony.

A friend had one of the balcony suites and said he couldn't sleep because he could hear his neighbor snoring all night.
