Default question about paid restaurants on the DAwn

Am I correct, are these the three pay extra for restaurants

Cagney's

Le Bistro

Bamboo

what about the "Benihana like restaurant", I am confused as to the Asian restaurants, it seems that two of them cost a cover charge?

And what about the "starbucks- like restaurant", do they have cold drinks like frappacinos, and do you have to pay extra for these/

The benihana like restaurant is in Bamboo's, It a counter within the restaurant
The coffe place is more like a bar it is in the main lobby , You pay by the drink.
When I was on in november they only had 3 charge restaurants which we did not use.

In the restaurants that you have to pay a cover, can you order as much as you want? If I have to pay I hope it would be worth it. We were thinking that we would try one of them on one of the nights, which one did you like the best and why?

Definitely do the benihana retaurant. Its called Tepanyaki. By far the best time we had at dinner. Times are only available at 5:30, 7:30, and 9:30 sittings. So reserve the day before and you'll be fine. Its only $10 for filet minon. $2 extra if you want shrip in addition. The fried rice, veggies, soups and all are all included. They put on a great show.

We went to Le Bistro and Cagney's Steakhouse and both were excellent. You can order as much as you want and the food is great. I think Le Bistro was $12.50 and Cagney's was $17.50.

We took our 3 children to tepanayki also..very good but a $75 bill to our account. It was fun (plenty to eat!) but seems to defeat the purpose of paying the cruise money up front for "free" food. I just felt like I could have spent that any night at my own house..why pay again when you've paid so much for the cruise already?

Chrisobrn that is how I felt , We did' nt eat in any of the pay restaurants.
I paid $3,000 to get on the ship I did not want to pay for any food!
Plus I never felt hungry

Chris, you have a point and that's why many choose not to eat in the specialty restaurants. We cruised Celebrity a few months ago; they charge $25 per person plus tip. We choose to let that one go as the $25 was for 3 courses only. Entee, Salad, soup or Appitizer (one only) and dessert. Of couse we really would not have needed any more I am sure. On NCL we have always done Le Bistra from the beginning which was about 10 years ago. They were the first line to start the specialty restaurants. Since, almost every line has their own version of extra pay alternatives. One of things to keep in mind is the cost of cruising. It really hasn't gone up in 20 years. Infact taking cost of living into consideration the price has gone down. That's why it has become a family type vacation and no more just for the upper middle class and above as in years past. My guess is we will see more extra charges as the rates stay about the same. This gives us all the option of going basic or splurging for the extras.
