Default Documents on Pride of America

Hello,
I was told that we would not need passports or birth certificates on the Pride of America and a US driver license would be enough. Is this true?
I would appreciate a first hand experience with someone who went on the Pride of America

A passport is not necessary, but you will need a birth certificate and driver's license or photo ID.

In fact since it is an intrastate trip no birth certificate either. Government ID like a drivers license just like a domestic flight is all you need, unless you are going to one of a few Fanning island cruises on the POAL.

From NCL.com

Hawaii Cruises
Inter-island Cruising. There's no need for a passport when you sail on any NCL America inter-island cruise. So if your ship never sails beyond the islands of Hawaii, all you need is a government-issued photo I.D. or a valid driver's license with a photo.

Fanning Island Itineraries. If your particular cruise calls on Fanning Island in the Republic of Kiribati, you are leaving the United States and a valid passport is required.
