Default Ideas for pre-accommodation in Istanbul and post in Athens

We are on the cruise leaving May 17/07 and starting to look at accommodation for pre and post. Anyone know good places to stay in Istanbul and in Athens?

Hi Deb,

I made a similar query on VirtualTourist.com and got two replies:

The Hamedan is just the kind of place we are looking for. Medium price, relatively small, good location.

We are doing the Istanbul-Venice Cruise at the end of September and very much looking forward to it.

I was doing a search for an Istanbul Hotel, using Tripadvisor, I booked Ottoman Hotel Imperial for it's location and excellent reviews. I booked via Booking.com.

I was impressed when I then received an e mail from the Hotel manager, acknowledging my booking, thanking me for choosing them, and letting me know they offer a free shuttle service from the airport.

That's never happened to me booking US hotels So they've already impressed me with their service. Cost of a deluxe room for 2, including breakfast for our May date is $110 Euro.

For Athens, we've chosen the NJV Athens Plaza, at $188 Euro.

Hi there,

I stayed in Hotel Yonca for two weeks, which was clean and comfortable. Double Bed, TV and ensuite. There is a lovely lounge downstairs and a kitchen where you can cook. Free Turkish tea at your disposal. 24 hour reception. Some very helpful people working there although only expect two words of English, All for 25 YTL a night, which I think is about 13 euros. It is down the backstreets of Taksim where there are shifty looking people, but nobody gave me any bother walking alone at night. In my opinion Taksim is the best place to stay in Istanbul as you can reach everywhere very easily by the metro and bus station.

Hotel Yonca Toprak Lüle Sokak 5,(off Tarlabaşi Bulvari) Istanbul
