Default President Obama now sits like an old European monarch. Hes got his own army, he can

It is pathetic in my opinion that the Congress when it comes to declaring war, on backing the president when he feels weve got to go into war, in my judgment, really, the president right now sits like an old European monarch. Hes got his own army, he can do whatever he wants with it, and nobody seems to raise any objection whatsoever. The congress has simply not done its job.

The president of the United States can decide on his own that he is now going to bomb certain parts of Syria, that hes going to send a limited number of Marines in, there is nobody who is going to stop him. There is nobody who is in Congress is going to say, Mr. President, you cant do that. But he now has that kind of power, and I think its wrong unless the Congress is there with him to share the responsibility for sending people off to war.

Words and thoughts abstracted from The Road to War: Presidential Commitments Honored and Betrayed by Marvin Kalb,

It seems like Congress is impotent when it comes to making war.

Omnipotent, study your history!

Learn about our previous wars.

Do you know who first sent bombers to Vietnam?

Default Obama right now has authorized training armies of Syrian rebels as surrogates for US

If you don't believe this is true, I think you should have a reality check.

"The president of the United States can decide on his own that he is now going to bomb certain parts of Syria, that hes going to send a limited number of Marines in, there is nobody who is going to stop him. There is nobody who is in Congress is going to say, Mr. President, you cant do that. His warmaking capability is the training of Syrian rebels. He has decided not to get US troops on ground but to use the CIA to train surrogate armies.
How these armies are used is yet to be seen.

This is such a mess. This morning, he seemed to come to the side of the Muslim Brotherhood, and since they play a big part in Syria's troubles, it sort of tells us where he stands.

CIA training those in another country is not new. It has gone on for years.

If you follow president Obama's voting history, when he voted, you will see that he is against wars of any kind.

If he decided to go to war, he would do it on his own, because he has already indicated he can't work with other parts of the Gov.

Bottom line is it is difficult to say what he would or wouldn't do, because we don't have all the facts.

Default The tipping point for Obama. Does he or doesn't he?

This might be the perfect opportunity for Obama to demonstrate that he is not an egotistical new European monarch sending out his army to punish Syria with cruise missiles. I'm sure that he will cobble together an alliance of weak sisters, but not Great Britian if he decises to giive him financial and manpower support. Even if the UN inspectors find chemicals were used the question is who used them and did a low level officer take the action.
This is war. Remember friendly fire death of American soldier during Vietnam war when the US Army lied about the cause of death.

To me the question is what will France contribute to this action other than pushing America to jump into this morass. They're broke. By the way where is Italy the US ally in the Libya invasion. I believe they are behind like the French...way behind.

Has anyone noticed the ascent of gas prices and descent of stock market since Obama said he was going to punish Syria. Opppps there goes my next cruise.
