Just back from Grand today. It was a wonderful cruise, but I was suprised that the ship has experienced so much wear and tear that is not repaired. Have not been on princess in a while. Some of the changes are not welcome -- the charges for ice cream, the added fee in the casino for charging on your room, and the listing of your room number and name on your key card.
The Grand is a beautiful ship with some great design features. But, the overall service on princess seems to have fallen significantly. Food in the dining room was good, but not great -- variety/selection not always good.
Because they offer 24 hour food service, the Grand Buffet is a thing of the past on Princess.
I tell everyone traveling on Princess that the best food on board the ship is in the free alternative dining room. The Horizon Court Buffet becomes The Bistro, a sitdown, full menu restaurant after 7:30PM. Since there are never more than 20 - 30 people eating there, the food is reeally individually prepared. I found this to be true on both Grand and Ocean Princess. The ship that has the best food in the regular dining room is Pacific Princess. I believe it's because no more than 300 or so people are served at any given seating. I still love the Grand though. So much to do onboard.
