Default St.Marten...What To Do?

Looking for ideas on how to spend the day in St Marten. Where is the best bar on the beach ? Which beach? Looking for a place where we can hang out all day and enjoy the sun ,food and drinks. French or Dutch side ?

We chose to stay close when in St. Marteen, we heard that you could get a good deal at every'tins'cool a bar right on the beach in Phillipsburg. We actually stopped right before we got there and negotiated for chairs and umbrella as well as a raft (float) and a couple of drinks.
If you want to go to a nicer beach or do some snorkeling we heard that Dawn beach was nice and it was on the Dutch side of the island. If you dont mind the "nude beach" idea then Orient beach is supposed to be nice.
The Princess Patter has alot of good information as well as a printed pamphlet for each port that you will stop in. They each have ideas and places that they suggest.
We found that we had just enough time at the beach and barely enough time to shop in St. Marteen, so if you plan on doing any amount of shopping then be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to do so when planning what beach you go to.

Hope this has helped,

Mark D.

There are several excellent beaches scattered around the island. Orient beach is definately the largest and most well known. There are sections that are not "clothing optional" but you will still see some nudity even in these sections. Really is a nice beach. Mullet Bay was hit pretty hard a couple of years ago by a hurricane but areas of the beach are still nice. Dawn beach is smaller, more secluded and more difficult to get to - also a nice beach. You can rent a jeep for a few hours right off the pier and take a quick spin around the entire island - French side and Dutch. Check out a few of the beaches and stop at which ever you like the best. If you are a shopper, you could spend the entire day downtown.
