Default Caribe Hilton, San Juan, January 4th

I guess I am very confused so I hope all of you can give me some advice and/or information. My wife and I are going on the Dawn Princess January 5th. However, we are arriving a day early in San Juan. We always go a day early. As we have done many times before, we book our airline arrangements and hotel through the cruise line such as Princess. We have never had a problem before. The hotels they have suggested in the past from their brochures have always been excellent and the air arrangements have been smooth.

Princess suggested the Caribe Hilton in San Juan and that's where we are staying at a cost of $399.00!!! But, I have seen both positive and negative comments from many people about this property. Many have said it is beautiful and many have said it is dirty and the bathrooms are real bad.

Can anyone help. If you have stayed there, maybe you can offer us some info since our trip is only 2-weeks away.

I personally believe that the private beach for the Caribe Hilton is the finest on Condado (msp) Beach. Yes, the hotel is old but is very refined. The cabanna rooms are the best. The rooms in the tower are OK and the view is beautiful, but IMHO the cabanna rooms are a must. As far as finding a dirty bathroom, I am sure that can happen anywhere. In fact, November of 2000, Sea Princess, Sorrento Suite (full suite). We were escorted to the suite and found that there were beer bottles on the balcony and the bathroom had not been touched since the previous occupants had left the cabin. Dirty glassware was on the wetbar. The stewart apologized and cleaned both areas quite quickly. So if you have a problem with the room, just tell housekeeping and I am sure they will fix the problem. Don't let the little things bother you. Enjoy the Caribe Hilton.

we have stayed at the Caribe Hilton two times and are are going down 2 days early for a cruise on the Dawn this Jan and are staying again at the Caribe Hilton. The setting and the beach is really great. If the bathroom or the room isn't clean, call them and they will clean it for you. Don't let something that can be easily corrected worry you - enjoy! you're on vacation. We have always enjoyed the hotel.

We just stayed there at the beginning of Dec. The beach and view is the best, but the hotel sucks. It is the nastiest place I have ever stayed in, and that includes many road side motels. The bathroom was, well, I'll just say that I have been in cleaner latrines. Teh front desk staff was indiffenet to any complaint you might have, the room staff was even worse.

Do yourself a favor, stay at the Embassy Suites. From what several people on our flight home said, it was great. No beach, but still a good value.

And Princess does gouge you on the package. They git us for $300+. Live and Learn.
