Default Booked on the new Diamond Princess!

Posted on chit-chat, too, but ...

Woo-hoo!

I am on a roll -- a cruise a month in 2004!

Art and I just booked the brand new Diamond Princess for a 2-night West Coast cruise from LA to Ensenada.

It seems the ship is going to be here early, so they plopped this cruise in just to kill some time before they move her to Alaska.

We booked through the Cruise Bazaar here. Got it for -- $99 for an inside guarantee (including port!)

We will be off on March 11th for this little jaunt. You can look it up on Cruize Bazaar if you are interested -- right at the top.

Oh, and almost forgot, we had done an open booking on Princess last February, so our $200 deposit was already there. Grand total on the credit card today: $30!

Yipee! That will make working 7 days in a row a lot easier.

I'll be on the Diamond in May for our first Alaska cruise.
I'd love to hear about the ship after your trip!
Have fun!
A cruise a month in 2004, I'm envious!!

My lender and Iboth agreed this is a cruise to experience the ship more than ports. We only have about 7 hours at Ensenada -- plenty of time to buy booze and get back on board.

:-)

I am booked on the Princess inaugural cruise on March 13th (it is going to the Mexican Riviera not Alaska yet). I am staying 3 days in LA before the cruise but I think I'm going to change that and book the 2 day cruise also. Sounds great.

I tried to book Diamond Princess and was too late, so I called Princess and was put on stand-by #32. Something else confusing to me was that they told me it was a Cruise to Nowhere, not to Ensenada - Harry, I hope you're correct. Maybe I misunderstood?

I just called princess and it is a cruise to nowhere meaning it is a sea day which is fine with me. Well I hope Harry is not disapointed I love sea days that means that there will be lots to do.

We just book today for the April 3, 2004 sail to Mexican Riviera. Hope you can write a review. Love to see if this ship is as wonderful as the Star was last April.
This time were taking kids (13yr and 16yrs). Any one else book for this sail date?

I am gonna check right now on the "cruise to no where" aspect -- it was billed as Ensenada 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday ... and this on Princess, too.

The "only sea day" does not bother me, but I just want the confirmed story.

I will report back.

Direct from the Princess mouth -- we *are* stopping in Ensenada from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. I told them what we were hearing, and she said Princess IS stopping.

Still waiting for dress info from the TA, but I cannot imagine we are having a formal night on a 2-night cruise.

I also asked that she re-verify on the Ensenada stop -- better safe than sorry.

Shar, keep us posted on your stand by progress.

We booked an inside guarantee.

Harry I talked to Princess also with my booking # and they said that it was a cruise to nowhere and we would be having a formal night on Fri night I am going to call again tomorrow again to see if another agent says something different. The one I talked to said that when he left Fri there was no two day cruise and when it come in Mon morning it was all booked.

I also called Princess yesterday and was told that they will be stopping in Ensenada from 7am to 3pm. I tried to book the 2 days and was told it was sold out. I was put on waitlist for a balcony (#29). She quoted me a price of $474.00. That's a lot of money for just 2 days. Last year I booked a week in southern carib. for $300. Guess I will stay in LA and check out the sites. Hopefully you folks going on the 11th will get all the kinks out before I board on the 13th.

Mike, I know what you mean about balcony cost -- that's why we just went for an inside.

Hmmmm ... sounds like the Princess folks don't know what the other hand is doing.

I emailed our TA last night but still no answer.

Glad we booked Saturday morning though, if it sold out that fast.

also they are still having a formal night on Sat and she said that they are not going out or Long Beach but san pedro(forgive me I did not spell that right) And she said we can start boarding at 12noon. I hope that this information has helped some. I know what you mean about getting their act together.

Boy! The info is sure getting confusing. I was told by the Princess rep that she is sailing out of Long Beach. I said, "Oh, you mean the Carnival terminal?" and she said yes.....

Hello Everyone!
I booked this on Sunday - spoke to Princess just now - the ship will be leaving out of SAN PEDRO for SURE at 7:00pm. It WILL be stopping in Ensenada from 7:00-3:00pm. I cannot believe it is already sold out!! It didn't even get advertised on major web sites.
Very excited to have gotten a balcony cabin!

Good luck to everyone on the wait list!
Pauli

Those short trips on the west coast are a great "fix." And, they DO have formal night, even on the two-nights.

When I talked to Princess that morning they said they just got the email about changeing from Long Beach to San Pedro. But why are we leaving so late the girl talked to said we could board at noon and then we don't leave till 7pm I am going to call and let you know what they say about that. I don't think they have had such a short cruise out of La and that is where the problem is.

Good News! We're up to #31. Yea!! One step in two days.

Oh well...when I talked to the Princess Rep this morning I told her that I'm going to be on a cruise next week (Cruisemate's Carnival Pride to the Mexican Riveria) and hoped I didn't get bumped up to a room before I returned - :o)

on these posts ... I think Princess is trying to figure things out as quick as possible.

Gee, a formal night! That just bumped up the amount to pack.

I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think of the Diamond Princess.

Looking at booking the 10 day Mexican Riviera on the sister ship for this fall! Great itinerary out of San Francisco!
