My fiance and I will be leaving on October 24 for our first cruise and our honeymoon. I just had some general questions regarding any items that might be forbidden on the Dawn Princess. We are flying into Ft.Lauderdale and I would hate to get there and find out I have brought something not allowed onboard. I have heard that they don't allow irons, but you may bring your own steamer? We would both appreciate any advice anyone might have for first timers. Thanks again, Christina
steamers are allowed - but there are laundry rooms with irons on each passenger deck. -found this very convenient - one less bulky item to pack. If you have long or thick hair bring your own travel hair dryer the ones in the cabin are not very strong. If your hair dryer has a polarized plug it won't fit into the outlet in the bathroom, you will have to use the outlet in the cabin- this is where a small power strip might come in handy to plug in hairdryer, curling iron, digital camera battery etc.
You can bring wine and champagne aboard with you, if you want to smuggle alcohol aboard ship you will need to pack it in your checked baggage. You can send a gift of alcohol to your stateroom if you want.
For convienence, just buy the booze on the ship rather than smuggle it on board. You can order it ahead of time, order it thru room service, or buy it in the booze shop and pay the added fee for onboard consumption.
I don't remember what it the message said it was. The prices for the booze that you order ahead are on the princess web site. I'd think that the on ship prices would be similar.
