Hi, everybody. My husband and I are taking our honeymoon on the Diamond Princess April 24. Neither one of us has been on a cruise before, and we're really looking forward to it, especially after reading all of your posts. I have two questions. 1)What are the pillows and bedlinens like on Princess? If you all say the pillows are very uncomfortable, I may want to bring my own...is that allowed? 2) What is the temperature like in the interior areas of the ship. Do they keep the air conditioning ice cold? I am asking because I am pretty sensitive to air conditioning, and I'll bring a bunch of layering-type sweaters, etc. if I can expect to be cold inside!
I always take my own pillow just in case. I put it in my carry-on. That way I can use it on the plane too. Feather pillows will roll up very small for stowage.
It wouldn't hurt to bring one light sweater just in case, but usually the ships are pretty comfortable. The individual controls for each cabin sometimes work better than others.
I've never needed my own pillow, but I do bring layers, because I have found the interior of Princess ships quite chilly. Your cabin can be adjusted to your liking.
Enjoy. We're booked for our 21st Princess. Love It!
Happy sailing,
Gail
the pillows are not the greatest. I usually end up using 2 to sleep with. The pillows are kind of flat. Hubby brings his own, because he has a neck problem. The sheets are standard white cotton. Towels are nice.
I am so glad that someone asked this question. I also wondered about the pillows on Princess. We have only cruised on one other cruiseline and found the pillows to be very flat. I will definitely be bringing my own pillow!
I've read on another board, that you can always ask your cabin steward for another pillow if needed. If the carrying of pillow is optional (no neck problems), it may be a good idea to get one on board and save your luggage space for the more necessary things (clothes, gift purchases while away, etc.)
Yes...I always ask the cabin attendant for 1, sometimes 2 extra pillows and it's never a problem. The pillows do tend to be a bit on the thin side and I prefer a little more "fluff" on mine. :-)
