We will be on the Golden Princess on May 9. the ship does not sail until 11pm. For those who have sailed out of San Juan in the past, would you reccomend going ashore after checking in and seeing a few sights in the evening, or would you suggest just staying on board, enjoying dinner and getting to know the ship?
Hi Snicks Guy,
If you arrive early enough, you can check out the forts, I really enjoyed seeing El Morro, but I believe it closes around 5:00. You can also just walk around Old San Juan depending on how much time you have, otherwise I'd just stay onboard and explore the ship.
We are going to check-in around noon, since we come in the day before, and get back off the ship to explore a little bit. We'll be back onboard by late afternoon to meet some other people for cocktails and go to dinner (early traditional).
Can you check in to the ship and then get back off to explore Puerto Rico? What time do you think you need to check into the ship at? We were planning on doing some sight-seeing, but want to be back in plenty of time to check in. Any advice?
Hi Erika,
You should be able to board around noon. So there is plenty of time to check-in and then explore Old San Juan, depending on what pier your ship is at. One pier is right in town, the other would require a taxi to get you into town.
