We got to the port last week at 11 a.m. Stood outside in the sweltering heat for 1 1/2 hours before the doors were opened. I felt so bad for the elderly folks out there in the heat with no place to sit. Once they opened the doors and we got inside it went quickly (about half an hour). I would recommend getting there later after the crowds die down. If they are late opening the doors, it is hell sitting out in that heat.
If you want to eat at the steak restaraunt Id book it soon after getting on board. We tried to get a reservation a couple days in and they told told us they were booked up for the week.
Getting on is always a gamble. If the ship clears customs early and turnaround is going well they may let you on early. There is a canopy that gives some shelter from the sun if your maybe one of the first couple hundred folks. One good thing is that once they opened the doors embarkation went really fast for us back a month ago. Literally at a walking pace.
Keep an eye out for when they have the seafood buffet. Its worth missing your normal dinner.
Seating for MUTS didnt become a problem till the end of the trip according to my wife. I was in the casino most nights and I only went once.
