Default Island Princess question

We are considering IP cruise in Apr. 06. Our TA has offered cat. BG on a guarantee basis (private balcony with partially obstructed balcony view). Can anyone tell us what kind of "obstruction" that is and how bad it is? Also, how far is it from LAX to the ships port and how much money by taxi? Or, would taking Princess transfers be a better idea?...Thank you for any help offered...

I checked and the Princess bus to San Pedro was $50/person. It is quite a distance and I would count on a $50 cab fare...but this will take more than one person...BUT be sure to get one that will hold you and your luggage. Make a definite deal with the cabbie before you accept. JIM

We have not been on the IP but have done 15 other Princess cruises, always a balcony but never an obstricted view.

Hi,

1/ Get a cab from LAX. their fees are $45.00+/- for the whole car. Even
with tips, this beats $50.00per person charged by Princess; also, you
go when you wanted. Your bags are handled by the long shoremen
as you get off the cab;you see them next at your cabin door.

2 " BG " is not an obstructed category. There are 6 of them, all on
Emerald deck ( # 209-211-215 starboard, #210-212-214 port )
" BH " is the '' obstructed'' category; there are only 2, #207-208
right upfront. If you get a '' garantee'' booking, it normally would be
for '' BH or better ".
The obstruction for those two cabins is the balcony and its walls being
pieshape.; smaller overall.

Both ''BG"" and ''BH'' are very much forward, thus you'll be subject to more motion; on the other hand, you're also lower overall on the ship, thus would feel less motion than Aloha or Baja decks, for exemple.

Happy sailings
Cheers
CG
