Default Snorkling in St. John?

Has anyone snorkeled in St. John? I am thinking about doing it.

we have snorkeled on St. John quite a few times. You have quite a few beaches to choose from. go to www.vinow.com for some great information.
FYI- Trunk Bay Beach is the most popular - marked snorkel trail, gets crowded with cruise ship tourists.
We like Cinnamon Bay Beach - no frills, no fee to get in. You can rent snorkel gear, small sunfish type sailboats. You have to bring your own non-alcoholic beverages. (This goes for all the beaches on St. John as St. John is a National Park.) There is a small general store and an outdoor grill where you can get lunch. Its a campground, actually. The beach is gorgeous, the water is crystal, you can see Trunk Bay from Cinnamon Bay. There is a small cay just off shore- a short swim, there is a reef around the cay that attracts lots of marine life.
Hawksnest Beach is also very nice.

The ferry ride over to St. John is a beautiful trip, let alone the island itself! I have been there once, and went to Trunk Bay. It was nice, but I am going to go to Cinnamon Bay this coming cruise. I have heard that it is even better!

So many beaches! So little time! Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Michelle, you will love Cinnamon Bay Beach.
Its rustic in comparrison to Trunk Bay, but who cares! its the same water, and it is so much less crowded and commerical than Trunk Bay .
Psst - don't tell - we seasond cruisers want to keep it our "little secret" that we only share with our CruiseMates.
