Default Caribe cabins

We just found out our Emerald 722 cabin was changed to a Caribe 312 cabin. Anyone have experience with these. We are not to happy with the down grade because someone drop the ball on this. We are waitlisted for a mini suite but who knows. We will make the best of it. At least we are still going on a cruise.

When on a cruise with someone that had a mini-suite. Their balcony was HALF the size of ours. We were on Caribe deck and half of ours was in view from above, but the the half closest to our room was totally private. I will ONLY book caribe deck on princess (at least the Grand P). The balconies are so big! The room in the minisuite may be bigger but who cares, I am either out of my room or on the balcony so I would rather have the bigger balcony. Breakfast in the morning..........cocktails at night.

Thanks Carole, you made us feel better already! I was really worried about the balcony and coverage. We also like having a couch rather than a small chair at least we are on a cruise.

Hi CA,

Like Carole, we were on the Caribe deck on Grand Princess. We LOVED the balcony! Half covered, half uncovered. We spent a lot of time out there!

There wasn't a couch in the cabin, but there were two comfortable chairs, and of course, the beds which we thought were very comfortable.

Have a wonderful cruise,

Thanks Fern. We are feeling better and better about the whole situation. DH will like the shaded part of the balcony. I made lots noise about being down graded without any communication, was never notified! I was calling about our docs and that's how I found out about the change. I explained, in a very upset voice, that this was an anniversary. They were very apologetic. Now watch the "upgrade fairy" come thru with a different cabin not to our liking...well a suite would be nice or even the PH suite BTW this was thru the Carnival Vacation Club and our points. Let's see how it turns out. Thanks again.

I only book the caribe deck because of the big balcony. The first cruise I was on the baja deck and when I looked down and saw how much bigger the caribe deck was from then on that's where we are. I love it because you can sit in the sun if you want or the shade.

We will be on the caribe deck in 4 more Saturdays, but whose counting

Thanks CJH too. We've had the Baja and Lido on the Star P, didn't mind looking down on the others but never knew the Caribe balconies were half and half. We only have 3 Saturdays to go but like you said, who's counting...

IMO, the Caribe was a great upgrade. Great balconies. The ones for mini-suites on Dolphin are the same size but none of it is uncovered. The only downside is the chair instead of the sofa, as in the mini suite, but that's not too bad either.

Thanks Harry, I was waiting for your opinion too!! DH really liked the idea of a mini suite but I have reassured him of everyone's positive responses here. Are we going to miss out on priority embarking if they have it because now we don't have a mini suite? I also like our new cabin because it is midship between decks with cabins. Our Emerald cabin was above Fusion so I think it could have been noisy.

Thanks everyone!!!

as the others have told you, Caribe is a great deck. Caribe is our first deck of choice. Midships is a great location!

I agree with the other posters that the Caribe is a great location and the balcony was big. I missed having a couch in the room but the fridge was a good size. Once you get used to doing the "cabin dance" to plan your movements around, it all works out fine, even though the cabin is a little smaller than other cruiselines.

I don't however agree with Fern that the bed was comfortable. It was the hardest, most uncomfortable bed that we have ever slept on. When I first laid down on it to try it, I actually burst out laughing because my husband likes a cozy, comfy bed and I knew it would not meet with his satisfaction. Our cabin steward came to the rescue however with an egg crate foam mattress to cushion it up a bit, as well as some feather pillows.

Hi cricketgal,

I guess it just depends on your preferences ! We like a very firm bed, and y'all like a cushy bed!

I love your reference to the "cabin dance"! After a few cruises we have mastered it! "To the left, to the right, sit down, stand up" !

We had 730 on Carribe deck.It was wonderful.I had been afraid of being near the aft for fear of becoming sea sick, but it wasnt bad at all.Even the last night when we went thru the horrible storm.A lof of ppl ship wide were saying they were up all night with the rocking and rolling.

We had 4 charis and a big table out there, and still had tons of room.I did kinda miss the sofa in the room though.

Thanks Dot for the info. I know DH will miss his couch too! Sounds like he can sit outside in the shade while I sit in the sun. Less than a week to go!!!
