We will be traveling on the Coral Princess on August 28, 2006. We will be traveling with my parents, 79 and 78 years old. They are very active people and I am very grateful for that. We will be celebrating my dad's 80th birthday early, ( Oct. 11) and October 24 is also their 59th wedding anniversary. They have cruised 3 times ,so they do know what it expect. We will also have some friends along, who love to cruise also. We have cruised about 11 times in the past 7 years, but this will be a first for us, we always cruise the carribean, but this is for my parents and I am their only child.
I am starting to get excited, as I read everthing that has ben posted. We have traveled all over the world, (21 year American Airlines Employee) but we have never been thrilled about the cold and vacation.
We went on a repositioning cruise out of Vancouver in late September last year and received a pretty good rate for a hotel. Not this year, I guess it is still high season.
Our plans are to fly to Seattle on Sat. August 26, and spend one night there (no luck a good prices either), would like to stay downtown, and on Sunday, we will take the Amtrak to Vancouver. Spend Sunday night in Vancouver, and board the ship on Monday.
I read the post about trying Priceline, but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, back to the ship. Has anyone been on this cruise recently, what did you think? We have booked a balcony (Emerald deck) for my parents and friends. We did not book a balcony, but an oceanview (obstructed view) that was all that was left, plus my husband tends to be frugal. I fiqured we could find places to sit and look out, if it was too cold outside. Does anyone know what will be going on on the first day at sea. I fiqured there will be some informational meetings.
I have read quite a bit about the excursions, and the feed back has helped narrow down what to do. I am going to the bookstore and pick out a few travel books to help.
Would love a response from anyone who has been on this cruise, or ship, or will be on this ship.
We were on the Coral Princess on June 5-12. It was our first time. We couldn't have had a better time. The staff were all friendly and very attentive. We enjoyed our trip thoroughly.
We did have a cabin with a balcony. I spent a lot of time out there. The veiws were amazing. I am very anxious to go again. We had late seating for dinner at 8pm. The waiters we had we just superb. We couldn't have asked for a better wait team. Our tablemates were great too. Of course the food is fantastic too.
You are correct about the first night at sea. There are a lot of tours going on like getting to know the ship. They had the emergency drill where you learn how to put on the life jackets and what to do in an emergency. The shows were pretty good. There was virtual golf and miniature golf and the casino for those that like to gamble.
We just mainly walked around trying to familiarize ourselves with the different decks and what was on them.
Our room was located on the Dolphin dock towards the front of the ship. It didn't feel any different there than anywhere else on the ship.
