Soft Ice cream-free or not on Princess line?

I've read on cruisemates somewhere that soft ice cream is not free on Princess. True or False? I think the free soft ice cream at anytime has become my husbands reason for cruising.

The only free ice cream I remember was served for dessert in the dining room. The other ice cream, Hagen Daz I believe had a charge but I have never bought any....spoiled by the other lines where it is free and can't see paying for it.

Free ice cream is available at Horizon Court between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. every afternoon. There are usually two flavors to choose from, plus toppings such as sprinkles, chopped nuts, etc.

They may have free ice cream for a limited time frame however they need to look at the other lines such as Celebrity and Holland and change their policy and part of the reason is that they have an ice cream station where they now sell for a pretty profit.Oh well you cannot have everything.

We missed having our 'free' soft serve cones on the 1st Princess we went on. They did have an ice cream social hour where they dished you up what ever flavor they made for that day, I believe they had 2 different ones each day. Plus you can get ice cream in the dining room after lunch and dinner. We saw the soft serve machines but that was behind the counter at the sundae bar and they charged a fee. We loved being able to walk up at any time on Carnival and get a dish or cone. Our afternoon 'free' soft serve will truly be missed this next cruise.

Badknees, I believe that is a highlight for my husband too.

Urm, I think its free sometimes, But I went onto the Grand princess, I think its free for people in staterooms....
but theres probably parts of the time when its free

The free ice cream in the Horizon Court is from 3:30 to 4:30 - while not officially soft, it was sometimes cuz it had partially melted.

The actual soft ice cream is about $1.50 - and it wasn't all that soft, so I only tried it once on the Coral this past April.
