Kat: I think half of the fun of a cruise is the planning of it! You can't start researching too soon in my opinion! I think you will find tons of useful information here on Cruisemates. I can answer a portion of your question...what to do in Aruba. One of my favorite things to do there is the jeep tour. You see a lot of the island and it is a great time. Just be prepared to get dirty!!!!!! It really is great fun.

If you are a beach bum, Aruba has great beaches..Try Palm Beach.

In Dominica, there are many eco touristy excursions you can do, Really no shopping on this island to speak of...

And I have to agree, getting all your ducks in a row is a good thing, but do leave room for serendipity....Sometimes the most fun, can be just doing your own thing...have a ball!

dominica is a great eco sightseeing island. you could spend a week and not see everything. minimal shopping however. we usually take the cruise ship tour but not in Dominica.

you want to use Kens hinterland tours the link is below

http://www.kenshinterlandtours.com/

ken is great, we had a van for four of us and a great driver/guide. see the web site for suggested tours or ken will custom design one for you. research the islandlnd you will love it. it is the only island that still looks the way it did when discovered by columbus.

Dominica- Get off the ship as soon as docked- grab a cab and be the first to the Emerald pool. You can get there, explore, swim, and be walking back to your cab when the first bus of tourist arrives.
