Ruby Princess

I can't find any transatlantic cruise on the Ruby Princess in October/November. I don't think that it's already sold out or that Princess will cross the Atlantic with an empty ship.

TravelBugs January 18th, 2008 11:07 AM

Looks like you've already booked Ruby for Nov 08...she's only scheduled so far on the princess website for Western Caribbean r/t Ft. Lauderdale.

gfleo January 18th, 2008 08:20 PM

Yes, I'm booked on it's maiden voyage in the caribbean from Nov 15-22, 7 night western caribbean.

TravelBugs January 19th, 2008 05:58 PM

Enjoy! We're on her sister ship, Emerald, next month. :D

gfleo January 29th, 2008 11:56 AM

Maybe it has been leased by a company.

gfleo February 9th, 2008 10:30 AM

Ruby Princess has been floated out on Feb. 1 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone were it's being build.

Okiguy February 10th, 2008 04:45 PM

Ruby Transatlantic

Ruby Princess will do its TA in early November with the start up team on board, but no paying passengers. The first cruise with passengers will be Nov. 15.

Bill

gfleo February 10th, 2008 08:24 PM

Yes I'm booked on the 15 th. So it will cross the Atlantic with non rev passengers?

TA: Travel agent?

coo359a2 February 10th, 2008 09:22 PM

Think TA is transatlantic. We are also on the 15 Nov sailing.

gfleo February 10th, 2008 09:49 PM

Cool , I think fellow cruisemate SharHite will also be on the Ruby on that date.

Okiguy February 11th, 2008 10:29 PM

Ruby transatlantic re-positioning cruise

Yes, TA here means Transatlantic. According to Thowan, our room steward on the Emerald last month, a start-up team of Princess staff will bring the ship from Fincantieri shipyard to Fort Lauderdale prior to the Nov. 15 inaugural cruise. There are no passengers on the transatlantic cruise as far as I know. My wife and I are booked on the inaugural cruise on Nov. 15.

Looking forward to a new boat. It is the same size as Crown and Emerald.

Bill (Okiguy) :D

gfleo February 12th, 2008 06:48 AM

Thanks for the info, exactly what I wanted to know

Are there any other cruisemates booked on her maiden trip besides okiguy, SharHite, coo359a2 and me?

Yep. I'm booked and looking forward to it. Fortunately, I have two more cruises to help tide me over until the 15th arrives.

Is anybody planning on arriving in FLL early? I'm thinking of going early and booking a hotel with a view of the port.

gfleo February 12th, 2008 08:45 PM

Ihaven't decide yet but most probably I will do the Eurodam from Nov.8-15 (because they have cancelled my Oct18-25 cruise on the Eurodam)and then board the Ruby Princess. If that is not the case I will arrive 2-3 days earlier, but will stay with my friend who lives in Boca. I'll let you know so maybe we can go for a drink before we set sail.

sidari February 15th, 2008 06:30 AM

We are booked on the Ruby but on the 29th which is the 3rd cruise anyone else on these boards going on that date?

Dave and Kerry.

coo359a2 February 16th, 2008 08:27 AM

We are doing the Royal Princess - Montreal to FLL - arriving on 15 Nov so we are just jumping from the Royal over to the Ruby.

gfleo February 16th, 2008 10:10 AM

Like I'm most probably going to do: arrive on the 15th on the Eurodam, and leave on the same day on the Ruby P

SharHite, Coo359a2 and Okiguy maybe we can sit together for dinner. Right now I have first seating, but won't mind changing it. Pls let me know what you think about the idea and with how many people you will be travelling.

That would be great. We have first seating listed on the booking confirmation, but will happily change it. There will be two of us, my husband Mike and me.

gfleo February 26th, 2008 09:29 PM

I also have 1st seating .Let's wait for the others, so we can make a cruisemate table

cdrewsjr February 27th, 2008 02:35 PM

Sailing on the 29th with my husband and in laws! Looking forward to it! Hopefully she is on time. Will be on the Caribe deck.

gfleo February 27th, 2008 05:35 PM

Looks like fellow cruisemate Sidari will be on that sailing.Maybe you can contact him/her .

I'll be waiving at you on the 29th, when the Independence of the Seas sets sail to the Eastern Caribbean.

cruise dreaming February 27th, 2008 05:41 PM

We asked Princess about that and the answer was that the Ruby will do the Transatlantic with a crew that will be finishing her up, getting her ready and training her staff. So they are not putting passengers on her.

sidari February 27th, 2008 06:13 PM

gfleo.....how can we spot you? will you be wearing a Rose in your lapel ! .... :D

gfleo March 1st, 2008 11:47 AM

Sounds like a good idea

coo359a2 March 2nd, 2008 04:59 PM

We have anytime dining so that we aren't tied down to a specific time. But I am sure that we will meet up at some of the group meetings the other board is talking about.

sidari March 2nd, 2008 06:50 PM

Coo...which sailing are you on?

coo359a2 March 2nd, 2008 07:08 PM

Sorry about that -- we're on the 11/15/08 sailing. I was posting to let Gfleo know that we were not able to join him at dinner.

gfleo March 21st, 2008 10:20 PM

coo359a2 and okiguy have you changed your dates ? or are you still going on the 15th?

coo359a2 March 22nd, 2008 10:16 AM

Gfleo

We are staying with the 15th sailing as our Royal P cruise ends on the 15th. I wasn't about to cancel that cruise to switch to the inaugural on the 8th. I'm looking on the bright side - if there are kinks/problems/etc hopefully they are worked out by our sailing :D . Our Royal P cruisemates - Donna and Dennis will also stay on the 15th sailing.

Roll call on the other cruise board is really dwindling down with everyone switching. Will be interesting to see who all will remain on the 15th.

Happy cruising to you and SharHite
