Tahitian Princess19 December 2008
Is there anyone booked on this cruise that has travelled these waters /areas before. I have never been in this region before so will welcome any contact from anyone that has. Welcome aboard.[/quote]
Sailed on the Tahitian Princess this past December 12/10 - 12/20. Bluntly...it is one fantastic trip.
Keep in mind, December is the rainy season so you have the chance to expect rain. We had lovely weather the entire time.
You tender in many of the ports, and we missed Hiva Oa due to the winds, the Captain said it wasn't safe to tender, especially since the winds were to pick up as the day progressed.
The Tahitian is a fantastic ship, loved the size of her. Our balcony cabin was extremely nice.
We flew over early and stayed at the overwater bungalows for 4 nights (actually 3 1/2 nights since we didn't get to the hotel until 2:00 a.m.) at the Intercontinental, we didn't even leave the resort.
Air Tahiti is a very nice airline but the seats are a bit tight. Going over, plane was not full so we were able to stretch out, coming back, plane was packed.
One nice feature was that on the day we flew home, we were allowed to stay on the ship (had to vacate our rooms) till they took us to the airport.
