My wonderful parents are treating the whole family (10 of us) to the 14 day Hawaii cruise out of LB. Jan or Feb 2011. Either on the Golden or the Sapphire!!!
Can you tell me which ship you prefer? Are they pretty much the same? My 2 kiddos will be 7 & 11 at the time. Will there be plenty for them to do?
Any suggestions for a reasonable hotel near the port? What about shore excursions? My parents are in their 80's and mom is in a wheelchair. We want to be able to experience the Islands together if we can! Suggestions?

The ships are pretty much the same. Golden may be a tad easier to navigate and it has the cool disco. Sapphire is newer.
The staterooms will be the same, as well as most of the public rooms.
A hotel near the port? There are more near the airport and you will probably get a better deal. It can be a 40-minute taxi ride to the port from the airport, so plan to leave the hotel by 11:00 or so.

Because of your timing, there may be tons of kids, due to February vacation, which varies across the country, or, in January, not many...The kids will have a ball regardless, and the kids programs onboard are always fun for them...They will be smiling 24~7
