What advice do you have for the Alaska Princess Cruise "Inside Passage" departing September 18?
Would like advice on sites to see in ports and favorite part of the Golden Princess cruise ship. I am going with an active family, what hikes, tours would you recommend, we plan on doing excursions on our own.
Most ports in Alaska have things that you can do for free. recommendations: Skagway - take a ride on the White Pass RR in the morning. In the afternoon you can take a number of shorts hikes on local trails. Juneau - Take a local tour company out to the Mendenhall glacier. There are number local trails that you can hike on. Ketchikan - You could take the tram up Mount Roberts and the hike the mountain. I think there are a number trails as well. Most tourist bureau's in Alaskan ports have maps of local walks and hiking trails.

I agree, the white pass r/r was a great trip. In Juneau there is a great float plane trip. It takes you to the Taku Lodge where you will have a great salmon bake lunch. While there you will find some great hiking that will take you through some spectacular scenery. I should also mention the site seeing from the float plane is incredible. You will never forget it. I have been on the Golden Princess at the same time of year. I can say I didnt have a favorite part of the ship, I loved the whole ship!! Have a great cruise!
