RCI charging for the Seaview Cafe next?? What would be thei
The Seaview cafe seems to be similar to JR, but then again they are famous for their burgers, which I don't remember the Seaview having. Well, at least, not JR burgers. Wonder if they will ever charge for going to the Seaview Cafe on the Radiance class ships? Maybe it depends on how much of an uproar there is over the charge on JR's that will determine if they will have the nerve to do something like that.
Re: RCI charging for the Seaview Cafe next?? What would be
If the cruise lines continue charging us for what has been "free"; the official party line will undoubtably be the same: "We are doing this to improve the cruising experience . . ." or something equally lame. Its not quite so simple.
Their real goal is to INCREASE per diem, or the amount of money they can extract from each cruiser, each day. They have to raise that figure somehow, since savage inter-line competition has dropped base cruise prices. Consequently, its the only way to pay for those fleets of mega-ships they've built. The "majors" have all painted themselves into a corner with these floating behemoths.
That's what the cruise industry figured we wanted, so by golly, they built 'em. Now, with $ billions of debt to pay; as well as all those pesky operating costs (including higher priced fuel) they had to figure out ways to make us pay bit by bit, nickel by dime; until the ships are paid for. Obviously, they ALSO have to make enough money to pay dividends to the stock owners!
So, you should expect to see many more pay as you go "options" in the future!
Understanding that, you still have a few choices: You can either you choose to pay for the various options, or not; or better yet, choose to cruise on that line or not.
This is not exactly brain surgery, but most of us would rather ***** and moan and write letters about a $4 hamburger, 'cause it feels so good to do so!
