Default Changing tipping

If you want to lower your tipping alottment for the day will the purser's desk give you a difficult time? If you'd like to keep it at a certain level for the length of the cruise, do you have to go change the amount every day?

Why would you want to change your tips on a daily basis? If you're going to evaluate your cabin steward/waiter/assistant waiter each day based on their service, I think you're focusing way too much on the details. Just enjoy the cruise.

One way to avoid dealing with the Passenger Services desk is to leave your tips in cash on the last day - whatever amount you feel is appropriate. Remember that these folks are paid very little, and rely very much on tips.

The pursers desk won't give you any problem. Just tell them what you want to do , and they'll take care of it for you. I occasionally will change the amount of withholding for the tips for one reason or the other, (usually so I can pay them in cash) and there is no problem at all. I do agree with PootersDad though, that these people really work hard for the money, and even the pittance they receive with the normal tip isn't enough for the hard work and long hours these folks put in.

I totally agree with you Pootersdad. I don't understand it when people talk about wanting to take their tips off before they even cruise. Even if they just do "their job" they still work very hard. We stopped tipping in cash because we were told they have to pool that money. Now we just leave our tips on our S&S card and write exceptional comment cards for those we want noticed. This is just as good as a tip if not better for them! Last cruise we did slip our cabin attendant a little extra because he was great! Tipping is part of the cruise expense and budget to us.

On RCI, the tip will only be charged to your account if you ask them to do so. Personally, I am not sure why someone would want to reduce below the minimum suggested amounts, but if that is your plan, don't use the option of adding them to your SeaPass.
