Formal nights , some people wore tuxs and gowns, most wear sports jackets and nice dress. Regular dinners your see golf shirts and sun dresses, I felt a little underdressed in slacks and shorts.

Most people on formal nights take the oppertunity to pull out their formal wear. Thats adds to the excitement of the cruise. Plus pictures will be taken on the two formal nights. Not everyone dresses up though. it's up to you. Pictures are also taken on some of the casual nights too. My wife and I always take the oppertunity to "get all gussied up". Have a great cruise. The Serenade is a beautiful ship.

My wife and I enjoy dressing up for "prom night" on a ship. You'll find a variety though. Some folks in tuxes/evening gowns, others in suits/dresses. If you don't feel like dressing formal, that's ok. You can dress casual and go to the Windjammer for dinner. It really is a lot of fun dressing up for dinner, photos, and the show. Then change into something more comfortable for the rest of the evening.

You might also consider going to Chops or Portofinos for formal night. It makes for a really special dining experience dressed to the 9's. Have fun

SueN - as the others have told you,you will see ladies in fancy evening gowns, simple long evening dresses, long tailored dress skirts with a fancy blouse, cocktail dress, dressy dinner suits, dressy pants with a dressy or sparkly top.
The majority of the men opt for dark suits, but you will see a few in tuxedos and a few in suit separates.

SueN,

These people are correct. Most people get dressed up, especially on formal nights. Some people just go to the cafe for dinner but that takes away from the fun. I'm 56 years old, my rule for dinner is formal night dresses below the knee, regular dinner dress above the knee. I always wear a dress. You will see some very casual but most are dressed nicely.
Alot of mini skirts or short dresses on casual nights for the 40's and under girls. How old are you?

Sue

Hi SueN,

I just posted on your excusion question. Dinners seem pretty fancy, especially the formals. Almost all dresses of some type. My girls love to dress up so they went all out every night. Personally I'm more laid back, but I'm glad I brougth two semi-fancy dresses for the formals. You'll see alot of short sun dresses, I guess the girls want to show off their tans.

It's typically informal, but I wouldn't use me as I guide. I tend to keep it very formal, wearing a tie constantly.

Murph,

You must be pretty uncomfortable wearing a tie all the time, what do you do around the pool?

SueN,

Most woman dress up nicely, it's not often you get to feel good about yourself. Go for it girl!

Sue,

Here are a couple of my pics. You'll find most people get dressed up. On formal nights I wore a long dress and casual nights I wore a short skirt or dress.

Very nice pictures, ShielaS. Good examples of the different types of dress. You and DH or DF make a striking couple! Do you have your next cruise planned, yet?
