Default Things to do in Nassau?

Hello everyone,
I have been lurking here for some months now. I finally found enough courage to post today. My dh and I will be sailing on the Sovereign of the Seas in about two weeks and we are looking for something different to do in Nassau. We would like to visit the Cloisters (Versailles Gardens), the Retreat, and a few cathedrals. We are more into sites rather than the shopping, etc. I was wondering if anyone could share any information on the Retreat and/or the Cloisters? Thanks

Hi. I was on the Sovereign the week of November 26th and had a great time. Been to Nassau about 5 times and was looking for something different to do so I checked out a website called shoretrips.com. Click on Nassau and they have a lot of fun trips to experience. We did the Catermeran/Beach snorkel excursion. Bob

Shoretrips.com is a good link and not just for the Caribbean.

If you like shopping (jewerly, gifts, etc), the downtown area right there at the pier is pretty good.

Warning though, Bahamas is a very poor island, more so than the others south of it. Don't be surprised if you get offers for drugs or the women bother you to braid your hair. Just say no thanks & move it. It'll be annoying, but just with it with a smile. If anything, those people at least have manners & understand No means No.

They are also very much religious, so don't be suprised when they say God Bless you, your family, etc. Good to know solid religion at least still exists somewhere on this planet!
