Costa Rica
Hello fellowcruisers,
Has anyone been to Costa Rica and bought their coffee (I am looking for decaff). Is the coffee cheaper than the U.S.? and if so, where can I purchase it? elf Big Red Boat Carnival Jubilee Carnival Valor RCCL RCCL Brilliance of the Seas 2007 - March RCCL Grandeur of the Seas 2007 - November RCCL Grandeur of the Seas 2008 - April |
Elf, maybe I can help a little regarding Costa Rican coffee.
I was just at Puerto Limon a few weeks ago. I bought 2- 8.8 ounce bags of coffee for $ 6. It came in a foil type bag--says " 100% pure Costa Rican coffee"-- brand name of what I got is " Triangulo de Oro ". Yes, you can get decaff, mild, medium and strong. Near the cruise dock there is an area of shops and there were several places I noticed selling coffee, so finding it won't be a problem. I haven't, as yet brewed up any of mine so I can't vouch for the quality but I have purchased coffee in Costa Rica in the past and it was good, but hey, for $ 3. a bag, what the heck. I guess I'll have to trry a cup of mine soon. Enjoy your trip and coffee too ! :) |
Good morning Ron,
Thank you for replying to my query. I will definitely look for decaff. coffee at the cruise dock area. All in all, did you enjoy Costa Rica and what did you like best? I will be cruising to Costa Rica this month and can't wait... Just love to cruise. Again, thank you. P.S. The name of your coffee that you purchased 'Triangulo de Oro' means Gold Triangle. Also, my co-worker who is from Costa Rica recommended two brands, Cafe Britt and 1820 coffee. Both are available in decaff. elf Big Red Boat Carnival Jubilee 2004 Carnival Valor 2005 RCCL Empress of the Seas 2006 RCCL Brilliance of the Seas 2007 RCCL Grandeur of the Seas 2007 RCCL Grandeur of the Seas 2008 |
Glad to be able to help.
Yes, I do like Costa Rica. I enjoy getting out into the countryside and enjoy nature. This trip we took a tour that included a boat ride on the Tortugero Canal, a ride on a refurbished sugar train and a bus. Enjoyed it very much and hope to go back sometime. Enjoy your cruise and load up on coffee. :) |
Costa Rica
Hello Ron,
Funny you should mention the Tortuguero Canal, as we will be taking that tour while visiting Costa Rica. Will definately load up on the coffee as well. Looking forward to our cruise. Counting the days, hours and minutes until we board!! elf |
